{A CSN stores giveaway and C&G’s lazy version of the infamous mini donut ice cream}

This is the first giveaway on my blog! SO exciting 🙂 CSNstores.com stock a wide range of high quality cookware and bakeware products like Le Creuset, Alessi, Gordon Ramsay and even those brightly coloured KitchenAid mixers I lust over. They’re site is pretty easy to navigate and you can customize your search in a variety of ways including by price, brand, customer rating and even by colour. They also offer everything from home decor to furniture, fitness equipment and a whole lot more.

Because I adore my readers I am offering a $45 CSN stores giftcard to one lucky person. All you have to do is go to their website and tell me what your favourite product is in the comments section below. I’ll pick a winner randomly on Sunday night at 6pm (mountain time). This giveaway is open to residents in the US or Canada. Good luck 🙂

Now onto the food… Remember that mini donut ice cream I had at the Stampede grounds from the MacKay’s ice cream stand in July..so do I. So today I made my own quick version to satisfy my craving. I first started off with one of Mama’s Cathy’s fresh italian donuts from the italian cafe, Mercato in Mission..

It was still warm when I had put it into the paper bag..

Crispy golden brown exterior evenly coated in aromatic cinnamon and shimmery granules of sugar..

The texture of this donut is unique, yeasted and light like a regular donut, but also soft and chewy, reminiscent of a pizza dough. Sorry Tim Hortons.. I this donut has got you beat..

I sampled about 1/4 and saved the rest to put into this.. 1/3 carton full of Madagascar vanilla bean frozen yogurt..

In goes a sprinkling of cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg..

Chop up the donut into little squares…mm.. bite-sized morsels of deep-fried goodness..mix together with a wooden spoon..

Spooned into my little lime green crate and barrel sorbet cup (with matching spoon of course)..

Ok, the ratio of frozen yogurt and donut is not balanced, but it tasted like Stampede all over again..

    I have been searching for a great egg poacher for a while!! And I finally just bought it off the csn website last week!!
    Its the Fagar Commercial Multi-Pan Deluxe.
    Its the best, as it comes with a steamer as well! GREAT value for what you get, and it works perfectly!

    I would *kill* for a Le Creuset dutch oven. Or a good chef’s knife.

    I think your version of the donut ice cream sounds wonderful. Makes me want to get a spoon right now and taste it. Ha ha. If only, right?

    L’Equip Mini Pulp Ejector Juicer – compact and economical! Ok, all set?
    Get 7 lemons…grate some rind and set aside…juice 6 lemons and put the juice in your favourite glass jug….add 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar (start low and add to taste)…and fill with cold water and ice cubes AND lemon rind. Let stand in the fridge for an hour or so, and then treat your guests to fresh lemonade. Warning – this is best done on a hot day – exquisite with a shot of Grey Goose!
