{A Valentine’s menu for my love}

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Me and the boy decided to bypass the classic Vday set menus and overcrowded restaurants by celebrating early with a Sunday dinner at one of our favourite restaurants in Calgary – Muse in the Kensington area last night (updates on that later today).

Our four year dating anniversary is this Wednesday, so I thought I’d make a lovely meal for the boy with a few goodies from Paris that I’d been saving for a special occasion…

A starter that will involve one of these lovely terrines

One of our favourite cheeses from Paris – the bright orange Mimolette from our incredible meal at the 3 Michelin-star restaurant, Le Bristol (I happened to find a chunk of it at the Springbank Cheese Co.)

And an entree centered around this jar of incredibly aromatic and luxurious shaved black truffles and finished with truffle oil


First course

  • Cheese tasting plate – Noble Farms herbed goat cheese truffles, black truffle cheddar and mimolette cheese – served with toasted baguette
  • Stag terrine on garlic toasts

Second Course

  • Arugula salad w/ bosc pears, blue cheese and slivered almonds with a honey ginger white wine vinaigrette

Third Course

  • Bucatini with shaved black truffles and parmesan
  • Roasted brussel sprouts and tomatoes provencale

Fourth Course

  • Fresh fruit pies from Bliss & Co. Bakery (I know, a cop out on the dessert, but really! They’re THAT good – best pies in Calgary in my opinion).

    That looks like a killer V-day meal! We stayed in also, and had duck confit over rice and sauteed veggies, with salad and a smoothie. I kind of want to repeat it already. 🙂
