{Holiday Recipe #4: Rosemary Lemon Vodka Sparklers}

As we all prepare for the upcoming weekend of non-stop eating, I thought it would be fitting to do a post on what we should be drinking while we’re busy mingling with friends and family (a drink that is NOT eggnog..ick..not a fan).

My drink of choice during the holidays this year is my Homemade Rosemary Lemon Vodka Sparklers.

Bubbly, herbaceous, citrusy and sweet. It’s so refreshing and light = a nice balance to the tryptophan loaded dinners and mountains of sweets we’ll all be consuming over the next week. Oh, and for you last minute shoppers, it also makes a great last minute gift too 🙂

It starts with a few sprigs of fresh rosemary and two lemons…

First you create a simple syrup: Put equal parts sugar and water (1 cup each), zest and juice of two lemons and the rosemary (3 branches) into a pot and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes. Store this in a bottle or airtight container and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

The next day, pour the liquid through a wire-mesh strainer, then pour the simple syrup into a tall glass bottle. Then add in 2 cups of vodka, shake it up and voila, instant fancy infused vodka! Serve it with some San Pellegrino/Perrier or Prosecco in a fancy martini glass and pretend you’re one of those characters in Mad Men..

..Or if you’re like me, serve it in a champagne flute while baking a batch of fudgy caramel brownies in your cute Anthropologie apron and comfy Lululemon attire…so chic..

Garnish with a zest of lemon and there you have it! Share it with friends…even though secretly you’d rather just keep the whole bottle to yourself…

Here is some inspiration for other infused vodkas for the holidays:

  1. Thank you for including my Apple Vodka in your infusion list! It’s delicious. Love the rest of the list. The Bacon Vodka really has my attention. Happy Holidays1
