My Favourites

Here are a list of my favorite restaurants and eateries and items off the menu:


  • L’Epicurie (Macleod Tr): tart au pomme – crisp flaky perfection
  • Amato Gelato (Kensington): every flavour under the rainbow – even wasabi/cucumber/Guinness?! My fave: cappuccino cookie & chocolate peanut butter
  • Jelly Modern Donuts (17th Ave): Giant or 3 bite sized gourmet donuts. Love the s’mores or maple bacon donut.
  • Rustic Sourdough Bakery (17th ave): my favourite is their cranberry pecan bread, serve with a smear of almond butter and apricot jam. My go-to pre-run or workout snack.
  • Bliss & Co Cupcakes & Desserts (Chinatown): BEST cupcakes in town. Try the 14 Karat cupcake with cream cheese frosting and the fruit pies are to die for.
  • Yann Haute Patisserie (Mission): Love their croissant aux amandes and their hazelnut chocolate beignets
  • Sidewalk Citizen Bakery (SW): I mention the bread on my blog ALL the time. Their sourdough is awesome and I’m addicted to their scones which are also available on Stephen Ave in the mornings on Tues and Thurs


Worth the money:

  • Rouge (Inglewood): in the summer, sitting in their garden, local food, fresh produce from their garden, voted one of the best restaurants in the world this year!
  • Catch (Stephen ave): upper level dining room – chef’s tasting menu w/ wine pairings
  • Rush (9th ave): for dinner – innovative dishes & stylish space
  • Cassis Bistro (17th Ave): classic French dining done right
  • Muse (Kensington): my favourite romantic restaurant.


  • Lazy Loaf & Kettle (Parkdale): their custom sandwiches made to order, raisin french toast, custom omelettes – best post-run meal
  • River Cafe (Prince’s island): focused on seasonal Canadian cuisine, great ambience, broccoli cheddar souffle for brunch is a must or ANY dessert on the menu – maple wild rice pudding, great place to take guests visiting town. Lovely patio in summer
  • The Coup (17th ave): vegetarian food at its best – greenhouse effect salad & smoked tofu+sheep’s feta+red pepper panini, yam fries with miso gravy
  • L’Epicurie (Macleod Trail): Croque Monsieur. Bechamel, ham, gruyere. Just like they are in Paris. My FAVOURITE sandwich! Other highlights: daily tarts, housemade gravlax and cheese terrine with black and white truffles. To-go beef bourguignon is good too.
  • Red’s Diner (Mission): buttermilk buckwheat pancakes, homemade potato chedder perogies w/ sour cream with their garlicky kielbasa
  • Holy Smoke Barbeque and Smokepit: BEST pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches in town. The addictive cornbread is not to be missed.
  • Community Natural Foods (10th Ave) – A convenient build-your-own-salad bar and their made to order carrot, apple, beet, ginger juice after buying groceries.
  • Blue Star Diner (Bridgeland): Great meetup place to catch up with a girlfriend, love the salmon benny

Friday night dinner:

  • Globefish (Mission/Marda loop): best sushi place in Calgary – crazy buster roll, salmon sashimi, takoyaki
  • CHARCUT (9th ave): meat lovers unite – try the pig’s head mortadella
  • Dairy Lane Cafe (Hillhurst): great thick juicy burgers – love the classic Dairy Lane burger with cheddar and bacon
  • Without Papers Pizza (Inglewood): Our go-to spot for a good pizza pie, love the Shroom..
  • Bonterra (10th ave): romantic italian hot spot, great ambience for a date – linguine carbonara w/ wild boar bacon – probably one of my favourite dishes ever.
  • Vin Room (Mission): Delicious tasting plates, try to get a seat on the rooftop patio in summer
  • The Living Room (17th ave): my fave charcuterie board in Calgary, Bernard Callebaut fondue, nice cozy atmosphere, great for romantic dates
  • Brasserie Kensington: lively and busy and my favourite poutine in town.
  • Model Milk (17th ave): Fresh and retro inspired interior: good ol’ comfort food done right. Fried chicken and the shrimp and grits!
  • Borgo Trattoria (17th ave): lively ambience, perfect for glasses of sharing tapas


  • Oolong Tea House (Kensington): great place to go on weekends to get some blogging done or to catch up with friends. Matcha smoothie with soy in the summer and vanilla hazelnut rooibos in the winter.


  • Lululemon (Mission & malls): BEST workout clothing ever, for both running and yoga, it’s my go to place, stylish and functional – worth the extra money
  • Crate & Barrel (South Centre): Stylish everyday kitchen items
  • Knifewear  (Inglewood): go to place for a good knife
  • Purr (17th Ave): Great unique and eclectic pieces – clothing, jewelry and bags
  • Adorn (Inglewood): Great jewelry and accessories – great price too
  • Anthropologie (Chinook Centre): love their online stuff, can never seem to find those items I love in store..
  • Cookbook Cooks & Co. (Beltline): Nice selection of hard to find kitchen items
  • Sephora (malls): Huge selection of hard to find brands
  • Community Natural Foods: (10th ave & Chinook station): Where I go for my organic shopping, love my coconut water
  • Casel Marche: my one-stop shop that carries my local must-haves: Sidewalk Citizen’s sourdough bread and scones, Urban Baker’s chocolate cranberry bread (Sat) and a variety of unique artisinal products
  • Calgary Farmers Market: love to support the local farmers and often visit the Blush Lane Market
  • SPUD: Always look forward to getting my box of fresh organic produce delivered to my front porch every Friday
  • Bite Groceteria (Inglewood): Great place for culinary inspiration, really unique items from all around the world

    You should update this site; Nectar’s closed, as is Fuze. The Vish has downgraded their martini list from the famous 140 to twenty(ish). I’m also jealous that you managed to get a good meal at Lounge Burger; I’ve been there three times and have been completely dissapointed every time.

      thanks for the updates 🙂 Didn’t realize Fuze was now closed, thats too bad, although I did notice it was never very busy when I was there. Vicious I haven’t been to in ages. As for Lounge Burger, i love the tiger shrimp burger which never seems to disappoint.

  2. I am glad you mentioned Knifewear in Inglewood. Definitely the place to go for the sharpest, handmade Japanese knives!

    You should try the toffee cake at Brava Bistro. It’s the best dessert I have had in the city!
